On July 27, the Chongqingdong-Qianjiang section of the Chongqing-Xiamen high-speed railway marked one month since its opening. This transport artery, running through southeastern Chongqing, has officially brought Pengshui county into Chongqing’s “one-hour economic circle,” injecting strong momentum into the local summer “cool economy.”
According to statistics from the Culture and Tourism Commission of Pengshui county, after the high-speed railway began service, summer resort scenic spots such as Mount Mowei and Ayi River saw a year-on-year increase of 20% in visitors, with new businesses such as homestays, farm stays and outdoor activities flourishing, bringing fresh vitality to the economic and social development of this mountainous county.
From June 27 to July 13, scenic spots including Chiyou Jiuli City, Ayi River, Wujiang Gallery and Mount Mowei received a total of 130,000 visitors, with ticket revenue exceeding 8.5 million yuan, creating numerous new jobs in catering, retail and other industries.
Ren Xujiang, magistrate of Pengshui county, said Pengshui is located in the national-level Wuling Mountain Area (southeastern Chongqing), Tujia and Miao Culture Ecological Protection Zone, with rich Miao culture and natural resources. The opening of the high-speed railway has shortened the travel time between the mountains and the city. Next, Pengshui will continue to focus on the summer resort economy by launching a series of special cultural tourism events such as the “Mount Mowei Camping Music Festival” and “Ayi River Rafting Challenge,” painting a new picture of rural revitalization.
